When and where does the band rehearse?
The band rehearses Tuesdays from 7 to 9 pm in the Beaumont Middle School band room. Beaumont Middle School is located at 4043 NE Fremont St, Portland, OR 97212. The room is open at 6:30 pm for set-up and personal warm-up time. Beaumont has plenty of parking just outside the band room, which is in the '70s style modular building behind the school. Entry to the parking lot is off Bryce St. just north of Fremont.

Where does the band perform?
The band performs 6-8 times per year. Concert location vary. Check the upcoming events on the home page and the band calendar for upcoming concert locations.

What is needed for concert attire?
We have two different performance attires. Our primary attire is a PCWB shirt (provided) with black pants, shoes and socks. The other performance attire is all black formal wear: black shoes and socks, black pants or long skirts (below the knee) or dresses. Tops with sleeves, no spaghetti straps or tanks, please. 

What are the dues?
There is a small fee for participation to help cover band expenses. The fee is $75 for the whole season (September to June), or $25 per quarter. (For students the fee is $45/$15.) Hardship waivers are available by request and approved on a case by case basis.

What is the process for joining the band?
A potential new member is invited to participate in 2 rehearsals. During this time, he/she will be seated near the section leader, who will assist with the music and check in after rehearsals. This is a great way to get a feel for the group, ask questions of the section leader, and decide if the band is a good fit.
After the 2nd rehearsal, a recommendation is made to the director, who may choose to schedule an audition with the potential new member. This brief audition will consist of a short piece prepared by the musician, any 4 major scales (selection by the musician), and a sight-reading piece, most likely in 6/8.

Is personal band member information shared?
Band members may use the address on the mailing list for band business only, such as scheduling sectionals or carpooling.
